In terms of raw specs, the Realme X2 Pro offers almost everything we have come to expect from a modern-day flagship smartphone, that too at a price that won’t burn a hole in your pocket.
What are some negatives of the Realme X2 Pro?
The quad-camera setup on the Realme X2 Pro seems impressive on paper, but the 64MP primary shooter falls short in low-light performance as the images often turned out noisy and soft in our testing. The wide-angle camera is also not that great in low-light. This seems to be the only major con with what otherwise is a great device. Also, while nitpicking, if you play a lot of PUBG, there are frame-drops during hot-drops or when there’s a lot of action taking place, so keep that in mind too.
Does the Realme X2 Pro come with Realme OS?
Unfortunately, Realme OS is still in development and while we expected Realme to launch it with the X2 Pro, the phone still comes with ColorOS 6.1 out of the box.
When will ColorOS 7 be available for the Realme X2 Pro?
Realme has released a timeline according to which the Realme X2 Pro will be receiving the ColorOS 7 update (with customizations specifically for Realme) in March 2020. This is slightly disappointing as the X2 Pro is a flagship smartphone so Realme should have prioritized this device. However, the beta program will be made available this year, so, if you have a Realme X2 Pro, you can register for the same.
What are the improvements in ColorOS 6.1?
For starters, you can now view your battery stats and screen on time in the settings menu. There’s also a system-wide dark mode which also applies to third-party apps. And the regulars like Game Space, Clone Apps, and Always-on display are also present.

The Realme X2 Pro has a Snapdragon 855+ chipset at its heart and that by itself means that the X2 Pro provides fantastic performance in everyday usage. Launching apps, multitasking, and even gaming is a breeze. However, while playing PUBG, we observed some dropped frames during hot-drops or if there are too many elements in one frame.

We played PUBG for over an hour and did not encounter any heating issues. The temperature is controlled and the back does not feel hot to touch, even without a case. And that’s the same when it comes to charging as well.

Usually, UFS 3.0 is a standard found on higher-priced smartphones, so having it on the Realme X2 Pro is an added bonus.

However, the K20 Pro has better cameras especially in low-light and the display is full-screen, so based on your priorities, you need to decide what outweighs the other. The software experience is based on personal preference, if you like MIUI or ColorOS better.
Should I buy the OnePlus 7T over the Realme X2 Pro?
The OnePlus 7T has superior software in terms of Oxygen OS which makes it feel a tad bit smoother. However, it is priced at Rs. 8,000 more than the X2 Pro, that too for the 6GB variant, so the X2 Pro provides better value. The cameras on the 7T are also far superior. If you play a lot of PUBG, is Realme X2 Pro the right choice?
While PUBG runs smoothly on 60fps most of the time, there are times when there are minor frame drops during hot drops or during an intense fight. If you are seriously into competitive gaming, the OnePlus 7T would be a much better option.
