Vivo S5: Design and Display
The Vivo S5 features a gradient finish on the back and comes in three color options: Ice White, Phantom Blue, and Star Black. It has a diamond-shaped camera module at the back that houses a quad-camera setup. Towards the front, the phone has a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED hole-punch display with a 91.8% screen-to-body ratio and 2400 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. The display comes with Eye Comfort mode by TÜV Rheinland and offers HDR10 support.
Vivo S5: Performance
Under the hood, the S5 has a 10nm octa-core Snapdragon 712 processor with Adreno 616 GPU, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded using a microSD card. To power everything, the phone includes a 4100mAh battery with support for 22.5W fast charging. Furthermore, it comes with dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB Type-C, for connectivity, and includes an in-display fingerprint scanner for authentication, along with a 3.5mm audio jack. On the software front, the phone runs on Funtouch OS 9.2 based on Android 9.0 Pie.
Vivo S5: Camera
In terms of optics, the S5 sports a quad-camera setup on the rear with LED, which includes a 48MP primary sensor with f/1.79 aperture, an 8MP wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 120-degree FoV, a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a 5MP depth sensor with f/2.48 aperture. On the front, the phone includes a 32MP camera with f/2.45 aperture for selfies. The camera also comes with features such as portrait mode, short videos, Super HDR, Night Mode, and AR shots, which aid to offer better chance at capturing certain shots.
Vivo S5: Pricing and Availability
The Vivo S5 comes in two configurations: 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB and is priced at ¥2698 (~ USD 384 / INR 27,641) and ¥2998 (~ USD 427 / INR 30,715) respectively. It is currently up for pre-order in China and will go on sale starting November 22.
