While most aspects of the phone including design and display remain the same, the major change can be seen under the hood in the chipset department. The Snapdragon 660 SoC from the Z3i has now been replaced with the newly announced Snapdragon 670 and 710 SoCs across two different versions. Rest of the specs, as stated, remain largely similar to the Z3i which includes a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with a water drop style notch and a Full HD+ resolution. Vivo also claims a screen-to-body ratio of over 90%. The phone runs on Vivo’s FunTouch OS based on top of Android 8.1 Oreo with the Jovi AI assistant baked in. The Vivo Z3 brings in the company’s proprietary Dual-Turbo Engine that is claimed to accelerate the phone’s gaming performance and add features like 4-D haptic feedback while gaming, similar to Huawei’s GPU Turbo. In terms of photography, the Vivo Z3 comes equipped with a dual camera setup to the back which is rated at 16+2MP and comes with AI capabilities. The front houses a 12MP sensor along with an IR illuminator to facilitate faster face unlock even in dimly lit environments. The battery is a 3315mAh unit and the fingerprint scanner is located at the back. As stated earlier, the Vivo Z3 will be available in multiple variants depending on the chipset as well as RAM and storage. The base variant sports the Snapdragon 670 chip along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and will retail for 1,598 Yuan ($230/INR 16,500), while the slightly higher model will bear the Snapdragon 710 chip along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and is priced at 1,898 Yuan ($274/INR 19,500) and the top-end variant with the same Snapdragon 710 SoC and 6+128GB Ram and storage is priced at 2,298 Yuan ($332/ INR 23,500).
